Diamonds have always been a sign of glamor and class, especially in the modern world that seemingly runs on fashion and costly accessories. In recent times, international markets have seen a huge upsurge in demand for diamonds to celebrate any occasion! Be it an engagement, anniversary or any other occasion, men dream of gifting the most beautiful diamonds to their partners. Women show a keen interest in diamonds, and why not? Nothing feels better than receiving a sparkling new diamond that will become the hottest topic in tea parties and social gatherings. Additionally, if that precious stone has been gifted by your special someone, it will obviously be something that you proudly show off to your peers! However, it is necessary to know which kind of diamond you should choose as a gift or to buy for yourself. For that reason, you need to have a basic idea about the different shapes and cuts of diamonds available in the vast world of diamond jewelry. Adi Simayof brings you a brief guide regarding the same, in order to help you choose better.

Some basic information regarding Cut and Shape – chief attributes of diamonds

Before going on about shapes and cuts, it is to be known that shape and cut are not the same attributes. In fact, they are quite of different leagues. Shape refers to the diamond’s physical look, while cut refers to the diamond’s capacity to facilitate refraction of light. “Cut” falls under the 4Cs among the qualities of a diamond – where the 4Cs stand for Cut, Clarity, Color as well as Carat. These are the technical reference points in the production of diamonds. The shape is purely an aesthetic category that jewelry designers and buyers (quite naturally) have different viewpoints on.
